Absolwentka Instytutu Filologii Angielskiej UJ oraz Podyplomowego Studium Prawa Europejskiego UJ. W 2012 roku uzyskała z wyróżnieniem stopień doktora nauk humanistycznych w dyscyplinie językoznawstwo na podstawie rozprawy pt. The realisation of Concession in the discourse of judges: A genre perspective. W roku 2020 otrzymała stopień doktora habilitowanego nauk humanistycznych w dyscyplinie językoznawstwo na podstawie cyklu artykułów pt. Verb patterns and stancetaking in spoken legal genres.
Interesują ją związki języka i prawa, w tym analiza znaczników epistemicznych i ewidencjalnych w dyskursie sędziowskim oraz w dyskursie przesłuchań sądowych. Do kręgu jej zainteresowań naukowych należą ponadto zjawiska komunikacyjne obecne w dyskursie mówionym i dyskursie internetowym. Jej najnowsze prace dotyczą strategii negocjowania stanowisk (stancetaking) i elementów wartościujących (evaluation), w tym użycia czasowników mówienia i czasowników mentalnych w postępowaniach sądowych, przesłuchaniach policyjnych, a także w wyrokach sądowych. Obecnie prowadzi badania nad dyskursem przesłuchań biegłych w amerykańskich procesach karnych z udziałem ławy przysięgłych.
Czynny tłumacz pisemny i ustny, a od roku 2005 tłumacz przysięgły języka angielskiego.
Członek międzynarodowych stowarzyszeń International Language and Law Association i American Pragmatics Association, a także Polskiego Towarzystwa Językoznawczego.
