The Confronting the Burden of History. Anglophone Literature Studies in V4 Countriesproject has just been completed. The project, initiated over a year ago, was carried out at the Faculty of Philology and financially supported by a grant from the International Visegrad Fund(www.visegradfund.org).

The main events of the first phase included a lecture and workshop conducted by Prof. Hayden White in November 2011. The participants were members of the Institute's literature sections as well representatives of our partner universities from Visegrad countries: University of Pardubice, University of Prešov, Comenius University in Bratislava, Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Budapest, Charles University in Prague.

The result of the second and final phase of the project is a joint publication entitled Confronting the Burden of History: Literary Representations of the Past, ed. Izabela Curyłło-Klag and Bożena Kucała (Kraków: Universitas, 2012). For more information on the project, see: www.burdenofhistory.pl
