Dr hab. Ewa Kowal

Lecturer and translator. Assistant Professor in the Department of Comparative Studies in Literature and Culture in the Institute of English Studies at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Author of two monographs and co-editor of four essay collections. She has written multiple articles and book chapters, and presented a series of papers at international conferences in Poland and abroad: https://jagiellonian.academia.edu/EwaKowal.

 

Her main research interests are: feminist history, theory and criticism, gender studies, masculinities studies, happiness studies, housing studies, film, comics and the visual arts.

 

As a lecturer she teaches courses on English-language literature and culture from the Victorian period to the present, as well as on literary and cultural theory and translation studies.

 

As a translator and editor she has worked for such periodicals as Literatura na Świecie, Przekładaniec: A Journal of Literary Translation, Wielogłos and Herito, as well as the Centre for Advanced Studies in the Humanities at the Jagiellonian University, the Jagiellonian University Joseph Conrad Research Centre (Yearbook of Conrad Studies (Poland)), the Conrad Festival, the Miłosz Festival and the International Cultural Centre in Kraków.
