Absolwent Instytutu Filologii Angielskiej UJ (1987). Wykładał na krakowskim Uniwersytecie Pedagogicznym (1991-2000, 2001-2011) oraz na Rice University w Houston (1996-1997, 2000-2001). W IFA UJ od 2011. Na Uniwersytecie Pedagogicznym obronił w r. 2000 pracę doktorską pt. A Computer Assisted Comparative Analysis of Two English Translations of Henryk Sienkiewicz's Trilogy. Habilitację uzyskał na Uniwersytecie Jagiellońskim (2019) na podstawie cyklu publikacji na temat Sygnały stylometryczne w języku literackim w oryginale i przekładzie. Jego zainteresowania naukowe koncentrują się głównie na stylometrii komputerowej języka literackiego w oryginale i przekładzie. Oprócz artykułów naukowych udziela się jako tłumacz literatury anglojęzycznej – przetłumaczył ok. 30 powieści takich autorów jak Kingsley Amis, Francis Scott Fitzgerald, William Golding, Nadine Gordimer, Kazuo Ishiguro czy John le Carré.
