dr Michał Choiński

dr Michał Choiński

Assistant Professor in the Institute of English Studies at the Jagiellonian University. His academic interests include American colonial preaching rhetoric, stylometry and literature of the American South. He was a visiting academic and a guest lecturer at Freie Universität in Berlin, Jonathan Edwards Center at Yale University, Institute of Southern Studies at University of South Carolina, College of Charleston, Piedmont College, Salem State University, Queens University in Belfast, and Universita degli Studi di Padova. In 2020, Choiński was the recipient of Fulbright Senior Fellowship Award at Yale University.

Choiński is the author of two books "The Rhetoric of the Revival: The Language of the Great Awakening Preachers", a monograph that came out in 2016 with Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht in New Developments in Jonathan Edwards Studies Series, and “Southern Hyperoles: Metafigurative Strategies of Narration”, a monograph that came out in 2020 with Louisiana State University Press in Southern Studies Series (https://lsupress.org/books/detail/southern-hyperboles). Choiński’s poetic pamphlet “Gifts Without Wrapping” came out with the Hedgehog Press in 2019 (https://www.hedgehogpress.co.uk/2019/09/27/autumn-books-michal-choinski).
